Social media and virtual avenues for marketing have taken over much of the advertising space in our modern world. While traditional marketing routes are still effective in reaching a wide audience, social media is now one of the best ways to engage with market goers and spread the word about your farmers market. Many customers look to social media, especially Facebook, to find information on operation days and times, opening and closing dates for the season, and to receive regular updates on what will be at the market weekly. The Alaska Farmers Market Association includes a social media or online marketing workshop at each conference or summit we put on, knowing that it can be challenging to manage the market and an online presence.
Sarah Dylan Jensen of Mockingjay Press in Washington has given multiple presentations at our webinar events. Her Social Media Strategies for Market Managers (2019) presentation walks through the ins and outs of branding, content calendars, engaging effectively on Facebook, and more.
